Chirk Secures Double Victory with Key Performances from Flack and Graham

Chirk’s first XI moved up to second place in Division Two after a narrow six-wicket victory against Willey at Holyhead Road. Winning the toss and electing to field, Chirk limited Willey to 120-9 in their 40 overs, thanks largely to disciplined bowling led by skipper Nick Flack and left-arm paceman Andrew Swarbrick.

Swarbrick struck with three wickets for 13 runs over eight overs, while Flack complemented with three wickets for 24 runs from seven overs. When batting, Chirk chased down the target aggressively, reaching 124-4 in just 20 overs. Flack, a veteran with over 10,000 club runs, anchored the innings unbeaten on 49 from 44 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. Opener Gareth Partridge contributed a brisk 40 off 33 balls with eight boundaries, ensuring a comfortable finish.

In Division Eight, Chirk’s second XI sustained their strong start to the season with an eight-wicket victory over Quayside. After bowling first, Chirk dismissed the hosts for 105 runs in 28.4 overs. The bowling attack was led by Rob Williams (3-14), Harry Lunt (3-15), and Alfie Shaw (2-16), effectively dismantling Quayside’s lineup.

Chasing the modest target, Chirk’s batsmen required just 17 overs to reach 108-2, securing a 20-3 points win. Daniel Graham starred with an unbeaten 62, supported by Harry Lunt’s valuable 26 runs.

Looking ahead, Chirk’s first team will face Frankwell in a Division Two clash, while the second XI will host Quayside next weekend, seeking to maintain their winning momentum in the league standings.
