Norwood and Wootton Lead 2025-26 PFA League One Player of the Year Nominations
Stockport County’s Oliver Norwood and Kyle Wootton top the six nominees for the 2025-26 PFA League One Player of the Year, alongside key contenders from Bolton, Lincoln, Leyton Orient, and Barnsley.
Oliver Norwood and Kyle Wootton of Stockport County headline the nominees for the 2025-26 PFA League One Player of the Year after standout seasons that propelled their team to the League One Play-Off Final. Norwood impressed with his consistent attacking contribution, scoring in three of the four competitions he participated in, totaling 11 goals and 12 assists across 49 appearances.
Wootton’s nomination highlights his versatility and scoring prowess. Originally a centre-forward, he shifted to centre-back mid-season due to squad injuries, yet still managed 21 goals and four assists in 55 appearances. Stockport’s run ended in a heavy 4-1 final defeat to Bolton at Wembley.
Bolton’s loanee Amario Cozier-Duberry also secured a nomination after a strong campaign featuring 10 goals and 11 assists in 41 appearances, despite missing three months due to a knee injury. Lincoln City forward Jack Moylan earned recognition for his role in securing promotion and the league title with 12 goals and six assists in 34 matches, helping Lincoln return to the second tier after a 65-year absence.
Leyton Orient’s Dom Ballard, named League One Player of the Season, received a nomination following a prolific term where he netted 23 goals and provided four assists in 44 games. Barnsley’s David McGoldrick completed the shortlist after scoring 18 goals and recording three assists despite the club finishing 15th in the league.
The winner will be announced at the PFA Awards ceremony on August 25, 2026, at the Opera House Manchester, honoring the best individual performers of the League One season.
